Being Safe During Guy Fawkes

LI: to understand the origins of Guy Fawkes and the importants of safety regarding the use of fireworks.

On November the 4th to November the 6th, people around the world celebrate a holiday called Guy Fawkes where fireworks are lit. But where exactly did Guy Fawkes originate from?

Guy Fawkes was a catholic man in the 1600s. However, cathlocism was banned and so Guy Fawkes and a group of plotters came up with a plan to make catholicism legal although it was a crime against the government, but it was unsuccessful and resulted in many losses. Fireworks were lit to remember that commiting crimes against the government were unwise choices made by unwise people. Therefore, Guy Fawkes is a holiday that goes against acts of treason.

For this task, we created a simple poster that educates the youth of today on the rules to follow in order to be safe during Guy Fawkes. I enjoyed this task because I learnt about the history of Guy Fawkes and where the holiday originates from as well as reminding myself what to do during Guy Fawkes to keep myself and others safe.

PB4L / Uniform and Office Procedure

LI: to understand the uniform and office procedure/expectations.

For this PB4L lesson, we have been looking at the office and uniform procedures. These are expectations to be followed by the students of PB4L.

These expectations include wearing the proper uniform, taking jackets off inside, wearing our uniform with pride outside of school to represent our school. Office expectations are being respectful of the staff, handing notices and phones in as well as submitting documents to register scooters and bikes.

Eating Times / Whaea Hera

LI: to understand the eating expectations.

LI: to be grateful for people who present opportunities.

This week, we are focusing on the classroom expectations that should be performed when eating during lunchtime and morning tea. In short, they are; sitting while eating, chewing with mouth closed, eating as much as you can to prevent waste and eating yogurt or liquid foods outside.

This week and generally, we want to thank Whaea Hera who works in the kitchen for the hard work she has put towards serving and preparing the lunches for the students of Panmure Bridge. She is dedicated and we should acknowledge her for that.

Rippa Rugby

LI: To learn and use the skills and basics of rippa rugby.

Today we had our first rippa rugby session on the court with Kelly Sports. First, we put on the belt and tags to prepare ourselves for the upcoming activities. The different tag colours were red and yellow.

Next, we practiced catching and throwing the rugby ball in partners. Afterwards, we played a tag game where everybody is it. We need to rip another persons tags, and both of their tags need to be ripped off to get them out. We played this to practice our dexterity and coordination.

Finally, we played a few rounds of proper rippa rugby. The red and yellow teams separated and switched roles after each round. There was the trying team and the ripping team. In the end, the red team won by one point with 4-5 being the final score.

PB4L – Being Prepared for School

LI: To understand how to be prepared for school and why it is important to do so.

This week, the PB4L focus is about how students can be prepared for school. We also built our knowledge on why it is important to be prepared for school.

On the DLO, you can see bullet-pointed ideas of things we can do to prepare ourselves for school. At the bottom, there is an explanation of why being prepared for school is important

I found this PB4L lesson very informing of everything I should do to organize myself for school. I enjoyed this task because I reminded myself about being ready for the next day of school.

Bathroom Procedures – PB4L

For PB4L, we have been focusing on understanding and identifying the correct bathroom expectations, and what is required to have a clean and arranged bathroom stay.

Some of the most important aspects of bathroom procedures is flushing the toilet and washing your hands, as this allows the next person to use the toilet without having to see something they shouldn’t. By following the expected bathroom procedures, you should leave no trace of your stay.
